Specifications of Milkvetch Root
Special grade: dry goods. Cylindrical single, remove the pimple head or trumpet head, and there is a hollow between the tops. The surface is off-white or light brown. Hard and tough. The outer layer of the section is white, the middle is light yellow or yellow, and powdery. Sweet, with raw soybean gas. It is more than 70 cm long, the diameter of the upper middle part is more than 2 cm, and the diameter of the end is not less than 0.6 cm. No fibrous roots, old skin, insect pillars, and mildew.
First class: dry goods. More than 50 cm long, with a diameter of more than 1.5 cm in the upper middle and no less than 0.5 cm in diameter at the end. No fibrous roots, old skin, insects, mildew.
Second class: dry goods. More than 40 cm long. The diameter of the upper middle part is more than 1 cm, and the diameter of the end is not less than 0.4 cm. There are old skins in the middle, no fibrous roots, insects, and mildew.
Third class: dry goods. The diameter of the upper middle part is more than 0.7 cm, and the diameter of the end is not less than 0.3 cm. There are broken knots in between. No fibrous roots, insects, mildew.
Milkvetch Root slices should be in the shape of a round or oval slice with a thickness of 2.5-3 mm. The surface is yellowish white. The inner layer has brown ring pattern and radial texture or the outer layer has zigzag cracks, and the center is yellow. Peripheral gray or light brown, with vertical fine wrinkles, slightly tough texture. Slight gas, sweet taste, beany smell when chewed.
Processing of Milkvetch Root
After harvesting Milkvetch Root membranaceus, first expose it to the sun (rubbing while drying) or bake it on a kang until it is 70% to 80% dry, then cut off the side roots and fibrous roots and pile them up for 1-2 days to make them regain moisture. Dry. Straighten out the roots and tie them into small bundles to complete the preliminary processing. Avoid strong light exposure and redness when drying, put it in a ventilated place when drying, and spread a layer of white paper on it. The medicinal materials are thick, hard, powdery and sweet. It is required to be dry, without reed heads, without fibrous roots, without mold, without burnt, without mud, and without impurities. According to the analysis of pharmacists, fibrous roots and rhizomes have the same anti-influenza effect, therefore, fibrous roots can also be used for medicine. The output of Milkvetch Root membranaceus is generally about 300 kilograms of dry products per mu, and 900-1100 kilograms of fresh products.
